JBCCI holds 18th annual general meeting

JBCCI organized its 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 12, through an online platform, the general members, board members, and distinguished guest joined the meeting. 

Md Emran, executive director, JBCCI moderated the program. Myungho Lee, president, JBCCI delivered welcoming remarks and illustrated JBCCI's role in recent times for developing trade relations between Japan and Bangladesh further. 

Kazunori Yamada, joint secretary general, JBCCI described the major activities of JBCCI undertaken from October 2022 to September 2023. Tadaoki Watanabe, treasurer, JBCCI presented the Annual Financial Audited Report and proposed to appoint “A. Wahab and Co. Chartered Accountants” to be the auditor for FY 2023-2024. 

The participants appreciated the events of seminar, round table discussion, networking, meeting with the government and other organizations on different issues being implemented during the period from October 2022 to September 2023.  Moreover, JBCCI welcomed the new members of JBCCI in the AGM. 

Officials of the Embassy of Japan and the Country Representative of JETRO Dhaka Office participated in the meeting as distinguished guests.

Iwama Kiminori, ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh graced the program as the chief guest during his speech he mentioned that the JBCCI has been playing a vital role in creating new business opportunities and strengthening the economic ties between the two countries. 

He also stated that in April 2023, Japan and Bangladesh upgraded their bilateral comprehensive partnership to Strategic level, by which the new era has begun to promote the business atmosphere.  

The program ended with vote of thanks by M Jalalul Hai, vice president of JBCCI.
