The government's aggregate revenue collections fell short of the revised target by over 12% to cross Tk325,000 crore for FY23.
However, the tax revenue earnings under the National Board of Revenue registered an 8.12% growth over Tk300,000 crore collected in the previous FY22, according to provisional figures.
The government's tax revenue target was set at Tk370,000 crore for FY23.
Of the total collections, the NBR collected revenue to the tune of Tk91,717 crore at import and export stages in FY23.
It reflected a 2.56% increase over that of the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, the NBR data revealed.
However, the revenue earnings from the import and export levels were 17.37% less than the target of Tk111,000 crore.
Collections of value added tax (VAT) at the local stage grew by 11.27% to cross Tk120,000 crore in FY23 compared to Tk89,423 crore in FY22, according to the NBR figures.
The last fiscal year's VAT collections fell short of the target by 11.88%.
On the other hand, revenue earnings from income tax and travel tax in the last fiscal rose by 9.62% compared to that in the previous fiscal year's earnings.
The NBR collected Tk113 crore as income tax and travel tax in FY23 while the figure was Tk103,000 crore in FY22.
However, the amount was 7.52% lower than the target of Tk122,000 crore, according to the NBR data.
