Bhutan, Bangladesh sign transit agreement

The long-awaited agreement on the movement of traffic-in-transit and protocol between Bangladesh and Bhutan has been signed, facilitating trade between the two nations.

In a ceremony held on Wednesday in Thimphu, Bhutan, Industry, Trade and Labour Minister Karma Dorji of Bhutan and Commerce Minister of Bangladesh Tipu Munshi signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.

Speaking at the event, Tipu Munshi referred to the agreement as a landmark and said that it would facilitate trade and business between the two countries and "take the trade relationship to a new height."

Participants included members of the Bhutan delegation and the Bangladesh delegation.
