Information workshop on rooftop solar organized by IDCOL with CCCI

Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) organized a workshop on the installation of rooftop industrial solar system at Hotel Radisson Blu, Chittagong on Tuesday with a view to promoting rooftop solar technology among the members of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

The cost of electricity generation from the solar rooftops is cheaper than that of grid tariff, reads a press release.

Thus, financing such kinds of projects makes financial sense apart from achieving the country's target of renewable energy-based power generation.

Executive Director & CEO of IDCOL Alamgir Morshed and President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Mahbubul Alam graced the occasion with their presence.

Bangladesh government has expressed its vision to generate 4,200 MW of electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030.

Executive Director & CEO of IDCOL Alamgir Morshed said: “Under renewable energy projects, IDCOL not only provides low-cost financing to various organizations but also provides technical support, quality equipment purchase and capacity building to the organizations, which is very important for the development of this sector.”

“It is estimated that Bangladesh has the potential of generating more than 4,000 MW of electricity from rooftop solar energy. IDCOL has set a target to finance 300 MWp rooftop solar projects by 2025,” he added.
