‘10 takay Ushnotar Hashi' Bazar is an initiative of the non-profit organization Together for Bangladesh in collaboration with Chitrokarkhana for the underprivileged people in the remote char area of Bogra named Sonpocha Char, Sariakandi so that they can get through the extreme winter.
The showcase was advertising different things to fight the winter wave extending from blankets, sweaters, lotions, mufflers, socks etc, reads a press release.
What surprised the local people was everything was only Tk10. The customers have expressed their satisfaction and gratitude to the organizers, buying everything within this price to meet their needs.
On January 14, the team arrived at the Sonpocha Char, a remote char area in Sariakandi which is more than 40km away from Bogra Sadar. This char is placed in a such highly remote condition that the horses are used for their communication.
Winter in Bangladesh can be harsh and merciless for the underprivileged where the temperature drops to below 10 degrees in some areas. The poor people in different parts of the country, especially in remote areas often have neither the resources nor the ability to fight against such a temperature drop.
Together for Bangladesh, in association with Chitrokarkhana, tried to support 300 village people in the Sonpocha Char area by offering them every winter aid at Tk10.
The motivation was to make them feel that they were buying their necessary goods on their own. The team also visited the Uchash School, the only school in that char area and distributed educational materials.
In the afternoon, engaging the village people the team organized a community seminar to know their further needs and necessities followed by a cultural event with village children.
SM Nazmus Sakib, executive director of Together for Bangladesh said: “We are looking forward to arranging ‘10takay Ushnotar Hashi' Bazar in every possible place in Bangladesh where needed. Our purpose is to make the rich community aware of the fact that with their little contribution, a lot of people can be benefited.”
