The Bangladesh Reconditioned Vehicles Importers and Dealers Association (Barvida) on Monday urged Mongla Port Authority (MPA) not to raise its wharf rent considering the current economic situation in the country.
The reconditioned vehicle importers' organization also requested the MPA chairman for issuing port passes for the trade body members to facilitate their visit there.
They were speaking at a view-exchange meeting with the MPA Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad Musa, held at the port's conference centre in Mongla in Bagerhat.
Barvida President Md Habib Ullah Dawn led the delegates.
The trade body also highlighted the need for faster dredging of the Poshur River to facilitate access of larger ships to the port, as vehicle import using the port is on the rise after the opening of Padma Bridge.
