Banglalink signs agreement with Bangladesh Railway for optical fibre sharing

Banglalink signed an agreement with Bangladesh Railway for an optical fibre sharing initiative. 

Erik Aas, CEO of Banglalink and Chief Signal and Telecommunication Engineer (Telecom) of Bangladesh Railway, Banu Ranjan Sarkar signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations, reads a press release. 

Md Nurul Islam Sujan, Minister of Railways was present at the event as the chief guest. Also present at the signing ceremony were high officials of both organizations.  

Under this agreement, Banglalink will use Bangladesh Railway’s optical fibre network in eight sections in the country for five years. 

The total lease value for 595.39 km of optical fibre is Tk29.6 crore. 

Erik Aas said: "We are happy to enter into this partnership with Bangladesh Railway for the optical fibre sharing initiative, which will enhance our connectivity and quality of digital services across the country. Banglalink will always remain open to such opportunities considering their far-reaching impacts on the telecom industry and the country as a whole."

Banglalink will continue to take initiatives to enhance its network capacity.
