Toyota unveils three new vehicles on the same day

The most popular car brand in Bangladesh- Toyota has recently launched three new models on the same platform. Among the three, one is a familiar name and has been one of the best-selling MPVs in the country’s automobile market.

Ever since its launch in 2006, Avanza has become a very popular model among Bangladeshi automobile owners. Its 1.5L engine is quite fuel-efficient and offers seven seats, which is essential for larger families, even though the third-row seats can get quite uncomfortable, especially for taller passengers on long journeys.

The vehicle has a 180mm ground clearance and plenty of capacity for additional items and luggage, meaning it's a good choice for families who like to go on long drives outside Dhaka.

The new third-generation Avanza gives more value for money as it offers more features as well as dramatic design enhancements for its latest model.

Interior

The appearance is more car-like than ever before. It no longer feels like you're in a utility vehicle. The nicest thing now is that the driving position has been greatly improved: this is no longer a mini truck disguised as a family wagon.

Because this is an MPV, there are numerous cubby compartments and the cupholders are located just in front of the AC vents, a large box is located slightly beneath the radio, and a charming little shelf is located over the glovebox.

The seats can be converted to easy chairs. So, you can relax in the traffic jams.

When it comes to the exterior of the vehicle, the new Avanza gets an updated exterior featuring split type LED headlamps. The overall exterior looks much bigger, sharper and has a bolder presence compared to the previous models.

Engine

The 1.5-litre engine produces around 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. It transmits power to the front wheels and uses a CVT transmission.

That powertrain combination has raised some eyebrows, with some even questioning its pulling power. Even though it's not a sports car, an MPV's job is to transport people and cargo. Torque is a major requirement for cars of its size, and the Avanza needs more of it.

The third generation Avanza will cost you Tk35 lakhs from the dealership.

The other two vehicles launched on the same day are the Toyota Raize and Toyota Veloz.

The Toyota Raize is a small SUV featuring a 1L turbocharged engine and a New Direct Drive CVT transmission, or D-CVT for short. This combination provides the torque and driving pleasure of a 1.5-litre engine, as well as the smooth and fast acceleration and with the added bonus of exceptional fuel efficiency.

The Raize features a strong and lively exterior that is somewhat sporty.

The front grille emanates strength and stability, while the aerodynamic shape is enhanced by sleek LED headlights. This vehicle is meant for those who love the outdoors but also need to live the urban life throughout the week.

If you lead an active lifestyle and require a vehicle that is both functional and enjoyable for work, this is the vehicle for you.

The price of this compact SUV is Tk34 lakh and according to Navana, they are bringing a 1.2L version of this vehicle soon.

The Toyota Veloz, a 1.5L seven-seater with a CVT transmission, was the third vehicle launched on the same day. The vehicle offers three driving modes Normal, Sports, and Eco Mode.

This seven-seater features 190mm of ground clearance and dual A/C comfort. The Veloz is very similar to the Avanza when it comes to practicality and functionality.

The Veloz is very similar to the Avanza when it comes to practicality and functionality. Toyota focused mainly on comfort and convenience while providing passengers with a roomy cabin.

Unlike the Raize, the Veloz has a high-end feel to it and offers soft inside panelling throughout. However, it shares the same issue as the Avanza with its third-row seats. It is too tight for taller passengers, and by tall, I mean anyone above 5’5.

The vehicle comes with a 16-inch alloy with synthetic leather trim, push start, and a wireless phone charger and will set you back Tk41 lakh.

The vehicles were officially unveiled at the Toyota showroom at Tejgaon in the capital and all the three vehicles are now on display.
