With a redesigned body and an updated interior, the new 2022 Honda Civic is already creating quite a buzz in the automobile world, as the legendary name seems to just keep getting better with every new model.
The Honda Civic has a 50-year history of affordability, efficiency, and durability, and the 2022 facelift appears to continue that heritage.
Inside and out, this 11th-generation Civic receives a complete overhaul. Some may consider the new Civic's more conservative look to be dull in comparison to the old model's flamboyance, but I believe it is cleaner and more refined.
It comes with numerous extra features that readily justify the increase in price. Blind-spot monitoring, a power sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated exterior mirrors, and heated front seats are among the amenities. It also has a more powerful 180-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine that comes as standard.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The powertrain options from the previous-generation Civic have been carried over. The base engine is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 158 horsepower, while the upgrade engine is a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder with 180 horsepower. The new Civic is only available in front-wheel drive.
Unfortunately, the previous generation Civic sedan's manual transmission has been discontinued for 2022, leaving only a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) as an option. However, the manual transmission hardly ever made it in the Bangladeshi market anyway.
The Civic's continuously variable automatic transmission is tuned well to deliver smooth power and quick responsiveness when you need a burst of speed.
The nimble handling, communicative steering, and well-balanced ride we liked in the previous generation model are all present here.
Fuel economy and real-world MPG
According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the most fuel-efficient Civic model is the mid-level EX, which gets 14 kilometers per litre in the city, 17 kilometers per litre on the highway, and 15 kilometers per litre overall.
Interior, comfort, and cargo space
The 2022 Civic features a more streamlined interior design, with sleeker lines and a dashboard with a full-width honeycomb-patterned mesh design element that neatly hides the air vents.
A broader centre console than the outgoing model appears to be less congested, with what appears to be a large, deep bin ahead of the shift lever for storing smart phones, keys, and road-trip food. According to Honda, passenger capacity is nearly the same, while the cargo bay is larger.
A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment display will be standard on the 2022 Civic, but a larger 9.0-inch device, as well as a 10.2-inch digital gauge display, will be available as options.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, and when paired with the larger of the two screens, they also provide wifi connectivity. In-dash navigation comes with a Bose music system, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
And about ride comfortability, the suspension on the Civic does a good job of smoothing out road bumps. It doesn't ride as pleasantly as some other small cars, but I think that's a fair trade-off considering the car's aggressive performance.
The trunk of the Civic sedan can accommodate up to 14.8 cubic feet of cargo, which is above average for the class and because the Civic's wheel wells and trunk hinges are modest, the area is usable.
The rear seats can also be folded down to increase cargo space, albeit the pass-through opening between the trunk and the back seat isn't particularly large.
With all the features and performance I think getting the Civic instead of any of its competitors in the same class would be the best option. Currently, DHS Motors- the official distributor of Honda cars in Bangladesh is selling the vehicle with a price tag of Tk44 lakh with registration.
