DNCRP: Receipt must for sale of cooking oil

No one will be allowed to sell cooking oil without a receipt from next Friday.

The decision has been taken due to the ongoing disturbance over cooking oil prices in the country.

Directorate of National Consumers Right Protection (DNCRP) Director General (DG) AHM Safiquzzaman made the announcement during a meeting between DNCRP officials and cooking oil traders on Tuesday.

DNCRP DG also said that the country has a sufficient amount of cooking oil in stock and will be able to meet the market demand till Ramadan.

“There have been attempts to raise cooking oil prices by creating an illusion of crisis and traders are blaming mill owners for this. Multiple government offices are trying to control the unrest over cooking oil prices,” he further said.

During the meeting, the cooking oil traders asked for the formation of a joint monitoring cell in order to ensure an adequate supply of cooking oil in the markets from the mills.

Meanwhile, DNCRP warned that irregularities regarding cooking oil prices will not be tolerated.
