Bangladeshi electronics giant Walton has launched two new models of second-generation refrigerator compressors.
These new models are silent and durable, which are also the new invention of the country’s only compressor manufacturer Walton, reads a press release.
Both models — the HVY94AA and HVYX9AA — were launched via a virtual event held at Walton Hi-Tech Industries Limited’s (WHIL) headquarters at Chandra, Gazipur on April 5.
WHIL Managing Director Engineer Golam Murshed attended the launching ceremony virtually as the chief guest while the company’s Deputy Managing Director Alamgir Alam Sarker, Walton Refrigerator Chief Operating Officer Yusuf Ali, Walton Compressor CEO Rabiul Alam, Walton R&D Chief Coordinator Tapas Kumer Mojumder, and Walton International Business Unit President Edward Kim were present, among others.
Golam Murshed said: “The development of the second-generation compressors, invented by the R&D team, is a great success for Walton.”
Compressor manufacturing industry is another potential sector in Bangladesh and also has a colossal international market, the WHIL managing director mentioned.
He said that Walton's target is to establish itself as one of the world's top compressor exporters.
Rabiul Alam said Walton compressors are being exported to Europe, Middle East, and other countries of the world after meeting the domestic demand.
The export volume of compressors is also quite good, he added.
Bangladesh is the eighth largest compressor-producing country in Asia and 15th in the world.
The country’s only compressor manufacturing industry Walton has the annual production capacity of about 4 million compressors.
Walton plans to increase production capacity to 10 million by 2025.
From the very beginning, Walton has been exporting large quantities of compressor’s parts to a German based world-renowned compressor manufacturer, the press release adds.
