Samsung to make TV, AC, fridge in Narsingdi

Samsung is all set to start the production line of its first factory in Bangladesh, having inaugurated a plant in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi district as a joint venture with Fair Electronics.
The plant will initially manufacture televisions, refrigerators, microwave oven and air conditioners for the local market, reports Bangla Tribune.
According to the Fair Electronics authorities, the 7,50,000 sq ft plant will employ at least 3000 Bangladeshi workers. It is scheduled to be officially open from May 2018. The local market will get high-quality home appliance products with a relatively cheap price.
Samsung organised a programme for laying the foundation stone of the factory on Thursday where Minister of Industries Amir Hossain Amu was present as chief guest.
The minister said Samsung has invested $100 million in Bangladesh and this will attract other giant companies to invest in our country.
“Bangladesh has a business-friendly environment and foreign companies will always be welcome here,” he added.
State Minister of Water Resources Lt Col (Retd) Muhammad Nazrul Islam, ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP of Narsingdi 3 Sirajul Islam Molla, Korean Ambassador in Bangladesh On San Du, Strategic Business Group Leader of Samsung Electronics Koo Yeun Choi, among other were present at the event.
