Bangladesh Railway launched special parcel trains on Chittagong-Dhaka-Chittagong route from Friday, aiming to facilitate farmers by carrying their agricultural products amid the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
The special parcel trains will carry vegetables, food, and perishable products produced by the farmers.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Shadequr Rahman, Chittagong divisional manager of Bangladesh Railway, said that the special parcel train carrying furniture, shoes, tyres, and vegetables left Chittagong station for the capital on Friday.
“The special parcel train of the Dhaka-Chittagong-Dhaka route will leave Chittagong at 10:00am everyday and reach Dhaka at 8:00 pm. The trains will stop at Pahartali, Sitakunda, Chinki Astana, Feni, Nangolcourt, Laksam, and Comilla railway stations,” said the divisional manager.
The movement of all passenger trains has remained suspended since March 25 to curb the spread of coronavirus.
The freight trains, however, are out of the purview of the restriction.
