Coronavirus: Banglalink to aid 14,500 households across country

Mobile operator Bangalink, in association with Bangladesh Sena Kalyan Sangstha and Bangladesh Army, will distribute relief among 14,500 affected households amid the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak in the country.

Each beneficiary will receive 5kg rice, 1kg pulse, 1 liter oil, 0.5kg semolina, 1kg sugar, 1kg salt and 2 bars of soap, said a press release.

Erik Aas, CEO of Banglalink, said, “In view of the economic repercussions of the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, we have come forward to extend our helping hand towards the communities. As a socially responsible corporate organization, it is our responsibility to make efforts for ensuring their social security in this difficult time."

Maj Gen Sajjadul Haque, chairman of Sena Kalyan Sangstha, said, “We are really pleased to see Banglalink’s commitment to serving the people of this country in this critical time. The disadvantaged communities need our supports to overcome the present crisis and get back to the normal course of life."

Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, "All the measures Banglalink has taken since the beginning of the outbreak are really praiseworthy. I hope they will continue to serve the people this way in future as well.”
