Minister Electronics starts ventilator production

Local electronics manufacturing company Minister Hi-Tech Park Electronics Limited is all set to produce ventilator machine, aimed to help sharply grown covid-19 patients in the country save their lives.

Ventilator or oxygen machine is vey essential medical equipment for the coronavirus infected people.

The Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) and several renowned public and private hospitals, leading biomedical engineers from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet) will assist the manufacturer in the machine production, said a press release.

Minister Hi-Tech Park Chairman M A Razzaq Khan (Raj) said that they were very close to achieve success.

“We will start making ventilator, initially with 100 units by coming week,” he said and added that they would increase the production to 500-1,000 units in phases. 

Production cost of the equipment would be Tk75,000-85,000, he informed.

Razzaq, also a FBCCI director, said: “We have no business purpose here. We just want to serve the people in this crisis days.”

“We would like to hand the machines over to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, for uses in hospitals in the treatment of COVID-19 patients,” he added.

Meanwhile, FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim said that the FBCCI would purchase 10% of the first production lot and supply it to the hospitals dealing with COVID-19 patients and the health ministry, said the release.

The association would buy more machines from the local company, it mentioned.
