The country’s frontline cement producer LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limted (LHBL) made a hefty profit last year, as its income after tax jumped by 56% year-over-year to Tk173.70 crore.
According to the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) disclosure and company’s statement, the cement maker’s earnings per share (EPS) for 2019 surged to Tk1.50 compared to Tk0.96 in 2018.
Consolidated sales revenues of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh for the given year rose to Tk1,784 crore, up by Tk120.80 crore from last year.
Lafarge declared 10% cash dividend for its shareholders.
Rajesh Surana, Chief Executive Officer of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh said “2019 was a challenging year for the cement industry. The impact of increased raw material costs and additional taxes were significant. Despite the impact, LafargeHolcim demonstrated a strong performance trend.”
“Our focus on improving operational efficiencies, driving commercial innovation and cost optimisation continues to be effective. We are determined to build on this thrust and further increase value to our stakeholders” he added.
LafargeHolcim now owns four cement plants including country's only integrated cement in Chhatak of Sylhet.
Share of LafargeHolcim fell by 1.85% or Tk0.8, closing at Tk42.30 yesterday. The company’s paid-up capital is Tk1,161 crore.
