CITF begins tomorrow

The month-long Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) begins tomorrow in the port city.

Like previous years, the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is going to organize the 28th edition of the trade fair at Railway Polo Ground in the city.

The announcement came at a press conference organized by the CCCI at the Agrabad World Trade Centre on Tuesday.

CCCI President Mahbubul Alam said that they had already completed all preparations for the fair.

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi will inaugurate the fair as the chief guest while Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, MA Latif MP, FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim and CMP Commissioner Mahabubur Rahman will be present as special guests.

This time more than 400 enterprises with 470 stalls are participating in the fair which will remain open for the visitors from 10:00am till 10:00pm.

“Like previous years, Thailand is participating in the fair as partner country. During the fair, ministers, government high officials, ambassadors and high commissioners from different countries are likely to visit the fair which will create opportunities for expansion of local market,” said Syed Jamal Ahmed, chairman of the fair organizing committee.

“The objective of organising the trade fair is to expand and promote the market of locally manufactured goods. Besides, the fair also plays an important role in the expansion and promotion of small and medium enterprises,” said Mahbubul Alam.

“We have also taken round the clock security measures to ensure law and order on the fair premises. Temporary police camps and CCTVs have been installed on the fair premises,” he said.

The entry fee for visiting the fair has been fixed at Tk15 for each person.
