The 16th Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) SoftExpo 2020 begins in the capital on February 6, aiming to showcase local software innovations and explore its global market.
The four-day expo will be organized by BASIS with the platinum sponsorship of Dutch-Bangla Bank Limited and silver sponsorship of United Commercial Bank Limited at International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).
“The SoftExpo will help the local IT companies expand their business. Around 300 exhibitors will participate in the expo. SoftExpo is the platform to showcase the capability of local software firms in the international arena,” said BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir at a media briefing at the BASIS auditorium in Karwan Bazar on Tuesday.
BASIS SoftExpo’s Convener and Association’s Vice President (Finance) Mushfiqur Rahman said, “The expo has been divided into 10 zones. Industry Zone and Experience Zone will brief audience on the country’s ICT sector’s growth and development perspectives to the audience at the fair.”
“There will be other zones such as VAT Zone, Digital Education Zone, FinTech Zone, Women Zone, Software Showcasing Zone, Mobile Innovation Zone, Digital Commerce Zone, ITES & BPO Zone and B-2-B matchmaking session," he added.
The B-2-B matchmaking session will be held between local and foreign companies, creating scope for local ICT companies to expand their business. This year IT and software companies from Sweden, Japan and the Netherlands will participate in the B-2-B matchmaking session.
DBBL’s Chief Technology Officer Abul Kashem Khan said, “Expansion and development of the local ICT sector is the heart of Digital Bangladesh. This year BASIS will organize the BASIS SoftExpo in a wider spectrum, which is one of the largest ICT expositions in the region. DBBL has agreed to be the Platinum partner of this grand event.”
The organizers said an ICT career camp would be held at the expo with more than 2,000 students from 45 universities to showcase their innovative ideas and the top three projects (ideas) would receive award.
