ARCASIA Forum-20 begins Nov 3

ARCASIA Forum-20, a conference of architects from Asian countries, begins in Dhaka on November 3 with an aim to raise awareness about architecture in society. 

The five-day event will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, which will continue till November 7. 

Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB), organizer of the program, made the announcement in a press conference at National Press Club on Monday. 

The organizers also announced a series of events promoting exchange of architects and sustainable architectural practices among Asian countries.

More than 1,500 architects from 21 Asian countries including Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Laos, Mayanmar, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunai, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Korea, will participate in the event.

As part of the event, IAB Build Expo, architectural exhibitions, architectural seminars participated by world renowned architects, architecture award ceremony, heritage walk for foreign guests, cultural programs and gala events will be organized.

"This year, the event will focus on the need of innovative and sustainable architectural solutions to face environmental challenges created by rapid urbanization and climate change," said Dr Abu Sayeed M Ahmed, convener of ARCASIA Forum 20, at the program.

Ar Jalal Ahmed, president of IAB, said: “IAB feels privileged to host this year’s ARCASIA Forum which also marks the golden jubilee celebration of ARCASIA and takes this opportunity of festivity to get closer to the general people by promoting awareness about architecture profession in society and overall development of the country.”

Jalal Ahmed said: "Since it is the gathering of the foreign and national architects, the target group is the architects. We also want to create awareness among general people about architect's role in society." 

As part of the conference, IAB BUILD EXPO 2019 will be held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in November 3-5, and exhibition on architecture of Bangladesh at Manik Mia Avenue and at Shahid Tajuddin Ahmad Smriti Park in Gulshan in October 31-November 5.

Besides, architectural photography exhibition and exhibition on social responsibility and green and sustainable architecture will be held at BICC in November 3-November 5.
