Children visiting at this year's Dhaka International Trade Fair have many forms of entertainment to choose from including cheap toys, rides, playing zones, and science pavillions.
Toys such as the Chicken Rider, Yao Yao Fish, Wingo-Swing, Junior Cricket Set, Rabbit Chair Orange, Dream Building Block, Elephant Rider, Rocker Horse Cum Study Desk, Dream Bed, Elegant Building Block, Deer Rider, Intelligence Board, and different kinds of dolls are very popular with children at the fair.
Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Sales Representative of Playtime Toy Mizan, said that they are offering 5–10% discounts and free items on the purchase of toys.
Delighted with the different rides being offered at the fair's two children parks, parents were seen standing in long queues, waiting to take their kids on the rides.
Among the several rides being offered at the fair, the Magic Boat and Doraemon Train are the most popular ones. Sharika Fantasy, one of the children's parks at the fair, also has some rides for adults.
Managing Director of Sharika Fantasy Mahmudul Hasan Pollab said: “The price of the different rides at our park range from Tk40 to Tk150."
Fabric traders at the fair are also showcasing different types of stuffed toys such as tigers, rabbits, panda, whales, dolphins, dogs, and cats. Prices of these toys range from Tk100 to as high as Tk3,000.
One child at the fair, Shihab, who came to the fair with his grandfather, said he came to the fair just to ride the miniature ferris wheel. Before getting on the ride Shihab’s grandfather said: "I want my grandson to enjoy all the rides at the fair, because such rides are only available in amusement parks, and I do not have the time to take him to them.”
The second children's park at the fair, set up by M/S Antora Enterprise, also has different rides like Doraemon Train, Jolly Trolley, Happy Train, Twist, and Mini Helicopter. Anam, ticket-seller at the fair, said that every day "around 500 children" visit the park and get on rides.
This year, organizers of the trade fair have also set up a Mother and Child Center beside the main entrance. There is also a Baby and Mother Care Centre where mothers can take their children to change their diapers or feed them.
