DITF kicks off on Wednesday

The 24th edition of the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF 2019) begins in Dhaka, today.

The country’s biggest international trade fair, jointly organized by the Ministry of Commerce and the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), is being held at its usual venue in Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. 

President M Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the fair at 3pm today, said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi at a press briefing, yesterday, adding that he will preside over the inaugural ceremony. 

This time, companies from both home and abroad will display their products in 605 stalls and pavillions. A total of 52 foreign companies from 22 countries will participate in the fair.

The fair will have two children's playing zones, two digital experience centers, three e-ticket booths, one audio visual center, five banks and ATM booths, one information center, five dormitories, and one primary healthcare center. 

Speaking at the press briefing, Commerce Minister Tipu said that this fair will play an important role in familiarizing our local products and services to foreign consumers, and in the socio-economic development of the country. 

Commerce Secretary Mofizul Islam announced that the fair will be hosted in its permanent location in Purbachal from 2021. 

The fair will be open to visitors from 9am to 10pm. The entry fee for adults is Tk30 and Tk20 for minors. This year, tickets will also be sold online via DITF's website.

The month-long fair will continue till February 8.
