Bangladesh largest market for Uber Moto

Uber, the world's largest on-demand ride-sharing company, on Tuesday celebrated its second anniversary in the country by declaring Bangladesh to be the largest motorcycle service market of the company.

With 100,000 driver partners and approximately 2,500 new partner sign-ups per week, Bangladesh is expected to contribute 25% of Uber’s growth in the region in 2019, said a press release.

Speaking about the achievement, Uber’s President of India and South Asia Pradeep Parameswaran, said: “In our two years of operations here, we have helped strengthen an already vibrant entrepreneurial culture by creating employment opportunities for driver partners and millions of rides for our loyal customers.”

Parameswaran also expressed pride for contributing to the transformation of Bangladesh’s existing transportation environment, by cutting back travel time, reducing congestion, and improving air quality.

“I would like to thank the government of Bangladesh, our business partners, riders, and driver partners for their support,” he furthered, adding that that Uber will continue to strive for excellence and growth in this market.

Congratulating Uber and all its employees in Bangladesh on their second anniversary in the country, brand ambassador Shakib Al Hasan said: “From taking Uber’s first ride in the country to recently becoming their brand ambassador, I have been impressed by Uber’s commitment to the country.”

Shakib added that he felt privileged to witness how Uber’s technology is empowering our youth, providing livelihood opportunities, and creating mobility solutions.

“I am confident Uber will continue to win the hearts and minds of millions of Bangladeshis.”

Besides Dhaka, Uber has been providing its services to Bangladesh’s second largest city Chittagong, since April 12 of this year, and now has four products – UberX, UberMOTO, UberPREMIER and UberHIRE – available in the port city.
