Egyptian investors keen to invest in Bangladesh's power sector

Egyptian investors have expressed interest to invest in Bangladesh, particularly in the power sector, Egyptian Ambassador in Dhaka Walid Ahmed Shamseldin said on Tuesday.

The envoy made the comment during a meeting with Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali at the latter's office in the Secretariat. 

The ambassador also expressed his concern about the Rohingya issue, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The foreign minister appreciated the support and cooperation of Egypt in combating the Rohingya crisis.

During the talks, the foreign minister briefed the ambassador about the opportunities of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

He also affirmed Bangladesh's continuous effort to deepen the ties with Egypt.

Ambassador Walid expressed his desire to work hard in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the areas of economic development, trade and investment, agriculture and tourism cooperation.

Both sides stressed on high-level visits with a view to further strengthening the existing bilateral relations.

They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest and hoped to continue support each other in the United Nations and other international bodies.
