Grameenphone has signed an agreement with British Council Bangladesh and Durbin Labs Limited to jointly develop “MyStudy,” a mobile learning app for secondary school students of Bangladesh.
Grameenphone CEO Michael Foley, Director of British Council Bangladesh Barbara Wickham, and Durbin Labs Director Reaz Monowar signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organizations.
The MyStudy app will aid SSC students in the 9th and 10th grades by focusing on the national curriculum for Mathematics, English and ICT subjects.
The app will provide self-learning and self-assessment modules designed to create an in-depth experience.
The app will help enable equal access to quality education across the country and provide clarity on content. Its services will be available free of cost.
MyStudy is also expected to minimize the gender gap in education. Furthermore, students from remote areas will benefit from the service.
In Bangladesh, there is a noticeable lack of contextually relevant content in Bangla. This initiative was jointly undertaken to address this need.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Michael Foley said: “Slowly but surely, online education will transform the way we learn, and it has already started having an impact on our society. There is a great opportunity for Bangladesh to digitalize and democratize knowledge and bridge the access divide to quality education. With a globally acclaimed partner like the British Council and our homegrown innovation partner, Durbin Labs, MyStudy is expected to deliver locally relevant and quality content.”
British Council Bangladesh will take the lead in designing the user interface, and the overall design guidelines to curate the mobile content from local education materials, while Durbin Labs will be developing the digital content based on the guidelines provided by the British Council.
Besides, Durbin Labs Limited will also be responsible for developing the mobile application and content management platform.
Grameenphone Deputy CEO and CMO Yasir Azman, and Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mahmud Hossain were present on the occasion, along with other officials of Grameenphone, British Council, and Durbin Labs.
