Tourism conference begins Feb 14

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon is expected to inaugurate the conference. DU Vice Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will also attend the inaugural function at Nabab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban as special guest. A total of 35 foreign delegates will participate in the conference, said Professor of Tourism and Hospitality Management at the DU Rashidul Hasan. “Over 400 people have been registered to participate in the conference as of Saturday. As we have decided not to take any fee for the registration considering the people’s interest, we hope the number of registrations will be more by the time the event begins,” he said. Tourism Department started count down to conference on February 7. Dean of the Faculty Prof Shibli Rubaiyat-Ul Islam formally inaugurated it by switching on the count-down watch.  Foreign delegates will also visit the world’s longest unbroken sea beach in Cox’s Bazar. The Department of Tourism and Hotel Management was introduced in 2007 considering the need for more highly qualified and trained personnel in tourism and hospitality industries.
