Jet Airways, the first privately-owned Indian carrier to provide direct flights between Bangladesh and India, celebrated the completion of a decade of its operations in Bangladesh on Thursday.
The event was held at their office at the RM Center in Gulshan, Dhaka.
After its inaugural flight from Kolkata to Dhaka on December 16, 2007, the airline expanded its operations over the next decade, and connects Bangladesh to key Indian cities including Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai on a daily basis.
“Air travel between Bangladesh and India has been growing at a steady pace and we are happy that we have been able to further trade, tourism and relationships between the two countries,” said Naresh Goyal, chairman of Jet Airways
Rajkumar Bhattacharya, country manager of Jet Airways, claimed the present is a golden era for Jet Airways.
“We are continuously looking to improve our services in order to provide our customers with a better experience,” he said.
He added that Jet Airways presently facilitates three daily flights and 21 weekly flights across the three Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata, with more than 300,000 passengers availing their services every year.
Although Jet Airways only operates out of Dhaka at the moment, other locations such as Chittagong and Sylhet are under evaluation.
To mark the completion of 10 years of service, the airline is offering a 10% discount on fares to its top 10 destinations over the course of the next 10 days.
These destinations include Paris, London, Toronto, and Amsterdam, in addition to prime Indian cities such as Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.
