Bangladesh’s Sajid and Rahat accept Queen’s award

The Queen’s Young Leaders Award 2017 was presented on Friday at Buckingham Palace. Among the recipients were two young Bangladeshis – Sajid Iqbal and Rahat Hossain. Queen Elizabeth II personally presented the awards along with Prince Harry.The two Bangladeshis were among 60 recipients aged between 18 and 29. The awards have been honouring young people who are dedicated to changing their communities for the better since 2014. The entire ceremony was live streamed on Facebook by the official page of the British royal family. He is the founder of the youth-led development agency Change, which has been promoting the use of renewable energy since 2012, and has introduced solar bottle lights to 4,000 people in disadvantaged communities.

CriticaLink, which he co-founded, provides emergency first aid training to volunteers and also alerts them to accidents via a mobile app. CriticaLink has so far trained over 2,600 volunteers and led to the rescue of over 1,000 patients in Dhaka. Among the guests were ex-prime minister Sir John Major, Olympic runner Sir Mo Farah and the YouTube star Caspar Lee.
