Malala joins Instagram on 21st birthday

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai turned 21 this Thursday and she celebrated her birthday by joining Instagram. The young woman enjoyed the day in Brazil and posted her very first image on Instagram from there. 

Her instagram picture caption reads: "Hi, Instagram! So happy to be celebrating my 21st birthday in #Brazil!"

Malala has already received a warm welcome to Instagram from her followers and the Malala Fund. Her birthday got more special when she celebrated it with activist Juanpa Zurita, who joined her tour from her birthday.

Zurita posted a picture on Instagram along with Malala and his LoveArmy co-founder Jérôme Jarre captioned: "Today we joined Malala in Brazil to learn about her work for girl's education. Malala has been supporting, from a place of unconditional Love, many initiatives around the world that help girls receive quality education"

Elaine Welteroth, a journalist also joined her to celebrate the young woman’s special day. Her instragram shows a picture of her with Malala captioned: “So excited to finally share why I am in beautiful Brazil: It’s #MALALADAY. This girls education activist, global humanitarian, fighter for equality, inspirational icon, and college student turns 21 today! And I could not feel more HONORED to celebrate it with her in the Afro-Brazilian + indigenous communities of Brazil where @malalafund is making its latest investment in ending the girls education crisis. ” 

Malala’s account received more than 32,000 followers within hours of her joining. Her Instagram has been shared and tagged nearly 20,000 times, reports Mashable.

The young woman joined Twitter on 2017 with 1.3 million active followers. Her Instagram bio describes her as "Student, girls' education advocate, @malalafund co-founder, cricket fan."
