Seven others have also been injured
Two people were killed and seven others injured in a fire that had followed a collision between a tractor and a bus on Bangabandhu Bridge in Tangail in the early hours of Sunday
The deceased were identified by police as Majnu, 33, and Nazrul Islam, 34. Both of them were from Dilma upazila of Nilphamari.
According to the Bangabandhu bridge traffic control room, the tractor [three-wheeler] had fallen on its side and caught fire after the Shyamoli Paribahan bus rear-ended it on the bridge's North Bengal-bound lane around 3am Sunday.
The fire had killed two people on the spot, police said.
Later, their bodies were recovered and sent to Sirajganj General Hospital, while the seven injured were admitted to Tangail General Hospital.
The incident had caused massive congestion on both sides of the bridge for a while. But traffic started to return to normal after the fire was doused and the damaged vehicles were moved, police said.
