Policeman dies in road accident in Dhaka

A police constable died in a road accident in Dhaka on Monday night.

The deceased, Md Shahidul Islam, 27, passed away while recieving treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), confirmed Shafiqul Islam, sub-inspector (SI) of Adabor police station.

He said: “The deceased was seriously injured when he was hit by an unidentified vehicle while crossing the road in front of the Roads and Highways office on Mirpur Road under Adabor police station on Monday around 8:30am.”

The injured policeman was taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College first, where he was referred to Dhaka Medical college for better treatment, where he died on Monday night.

The police officer’s body was handed over to his family on Tuesday afternoon.

The deceased was the second child of Md Kashem Ali of Kotwali thana, Dinajpur. 

He also had a one and half year-old daughter, Sneha. He was working at the Welfare and Force branch of the Rajarbag Police Company No 4.
