Bangladesh beat Chinese Taipei 9-0, finish 7th at Indoor Asia Cup Hockey

This was the first time Bangladesh participated in an Indoor Asia Cup

Bangladesh concluded their debut Indoor Asia Cup Hockey campaign at 7th place after handing Chinese Taipei a thrashing defeat of 9-0 in the place-deciding match in Chonburi, Thailand on Saturday.

Ashraful Islam scored two goals from penalty corner as Bangladesh led the opening half 5-0. Milon Hossain and captain Farhad Ahmed Shitul also netted two goals each while Rasel Mahmud Jimmy, Mainul Islam Kaushik and Khorshedur Rahman added one apiece.

This was the first time Bangladesh participated in an Indoor Asia Cup tournament and they finished top among the new comers like them. Chinese Taipei, Nepal and Philippines are the other new participants in the meet who finished at 8th, 9th and 10th respectively.

Bangladesh team is scheduled to return home on Monday.
