The fifth round of the National Cricket League ended Tuesday with no result in any of the matches, but the round still saw some brilliant individual performances. Chief among them was that of Farhad Reza, who picked up a six-for.

Khulna Division earned an important first innings lead against Rajshahi Division to hold top position in tier-1, while Rangpur Division edged closer to second placed Dhaka by earning first-innings lead points of their own.

In Tier-2, Sylhet Division stayed on top after earning some points against second-placed Dhaka Metropolis.

Khulna v Rajshahi

In reply to Rajshahi’s 151, Khulna at one stage were on 164/4 thanks largely to a 96-run third wicket stand between Amit Majumder (59) and Tushar Imran (58). However, Farhad wreaked havoc at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, picking up the remaining six wickets and bundling out Khulna for 201.

Spinner Abdur Razzak starred in the later part of the day, picking up four wickets in Rajshahi’s second innings that ended 191/7. Rubel Hossain of Khulna was adjudged man of the match for picking up seven wickets in the first innings.

Rangpur v Dhaka

At Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra, Nasir Hossain, who resumed the day’s play on 104, was not out on 161 when Rangpur declared with a score of 299/9. Chasing 284 in the fourth innings, Dhaka ended on 176/4 after 63 overs. Raqibul Hasan scored 80 off 173 balls for Dhaka, and Nasir was adjudged man of the match.

Sylhet v Metro

Metro captain Marshall Ayub was not out on 163, after resuming the day’s play on 73, when his side declared with a score of 395/6 in the second innings. Chasing 356, Sylhet were on 187/4 after 49 overs at the close of play.

Barisal v Chittagong

After three days of no play due to inclement weather, the final day saw 19 overs of cricket. Barisal declared with a score of 70/3 after 13 overs, and Chittagong scored 45/0 in six overs before the match was drawn.
