Uttara floor Brothers in relegation battle

Man of the match Mohimenul continued the progress and his 66-run innings helped his side getting past the 300-run mark

Uttara Sporting Club clinched a crucial win in the relegation battle and increased their hope of survival in Dhaka Premier League as they beat Brothers Union by 188 runs at BKSP on Tuesday. 

Uttara made 313/6 batting first thanks to a century of Shanaj Ahmed before off-spinner Mohimenul Khan picked five wickets to wrap up Brothers for just 125 runs. 

After losing the toss Uttara lost an early wicket but Shanaj and Anisul Islam, who made 64, formed a 135-run second wicket partnership to give a solid platform. 

Shanaj added another 69 runs with Mohimenul before eventually got out for 114 off just 106 balls. He struck 12 fours and two sixes in his innings.

Bishwanath Halder got three and Mohammad Shahzada bagged two wickets for Brothers. 

In reply, Brothers lost wickets in regular intervals and in the end were folded meekly as they were all out in just 29.2 overs.

Mohimenul returned with a brilliant figure of 5/38. 

With the result Brothers and Uttara both have six points from 12 matches each while another team in the relegaion zone, BKSP, have five points from 11 games.
