Shinepukur Cricket Club stunned Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, beating them by two wickets after chasing down 324 runs in their Dhaka Premier League match in Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium Friday.

Mohammedan posted a challenging 324 on the board after being asked to bat first.

The opening stand was impressive for Mohammedan as their first wicket fell in the last ball of the 20th over when the score was 101.

Irfan Sukkur was the first to get out scoring 50.

The other opener Liton Kumar Das played an eye-catching innings of 84 off 89 deliveries with nine fours and a six.

No 3 and 4 batsmen Avishek Mitra and Raqibul Hasan capitalized on the good start, scoring 50 and 74 respectively.

A collective effort from the top-order, and Sohag Gazi’s quick-fire 45 off just 22 balls paved the way for a challenging total.

Delwar Hossain took five wickets for Shinepukur conceding 46 runs.

In reply, Shinepukur’s chase was completely different to that of Mohammedan.

They lost wickets early in their innings but batted brilliantly in the latter stages.

At one point, Shinepukur lost their fifth wicket in the fourth ball of the 25th over when the score was only 117.

But after that, they scored more than 200 in the remaining 25 overs losing just three wickets.

The credit goes to Afif Hossain, who scored a brilliant 97 off 86 balls with four fours and five sixes and kept the chase alive.

Unfortunately, he fell three short of a well-deserved hundred.

Later, Amit Hasan (43), Sohrawardi Shuvo (34 not out) and Delwar (34) made useful contributions to snatch a brilliant win.

In the end, Shinepukur reached their target with two balls to spare.

Delwar was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.

Shinepukur 325/8 in 49.4 overs (Afif 97, Chand 49) beat Mohammedan 324 in 49.3 overs (Liton 84, Delwar 5/46) by two wickets
