Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has joined with the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad Friday to take part in the 12th edition of Indian Premier League which will get underway Saturday.
Shakib left Dhaka Friday morning and reached Kolkata to team up with the Sunrisers squad.
Sunrisers’ first match of the tournament is scheduled to be held Sunday against Kolkata Knight Riders.
The match will be played at Eden Gardens, the home ground of KKR.
Shakib has many memories at the Kolkata venue as he played for the Knight Riders from 2011-2017.
“Good to be coming back in Kolkata and playing in front of such a big crowd at Eden Gardens. I have so many memories at the Eden Gardens. I am very much looking forward to the match [Sunday],” said Shakib to the Sunrisers fans in their official social media page after reaching Kolkata.
Shakib has played for Kolkata for six seasons and tasted title success in 2012 and 2014.
Last year, he joined with the Sunrisers, who eventually finished as the runners-up.
The IPL final will be played on May 19 but Shakib will be available until April 20 or 21 as the Bangladesh team will start their training camp for the World Cup from April 22.
Shakib will join the camp on time so he is likely to return around April 20.
