McCullum hits five sixes in six balls
Rangpur Riders’ top-order batsman Brendon McCullum finally showed his big hitting ability in BPL 2017 after 10 innings as the Kiwi played a blistering knock of 78 runs off just 46 deliveries. More importantly, the right-hander smashed nine sixers in his innings. The West Indies’ Johnson Charles was batting aggressively at the beginning of the innings and McCullum provided him able support. At one stage, he made a run-a-ball 19. But McCullum soon took charge and started smashing sixes all over the park. His next 59 runs came off just 27 balls. What’s more, “Baz” struck five sixes in just six balls. He blasted a sixer in the last ball of the 16th over against seamer Hasan Ali. In his next five balls, McCullum hit another four over boundaries against pacer Al Amin Hossain. And so, Baz came to the party at just the right time for Rangpur.
Mashrafe takes crucial wicket of Tamim
Comilla Victorians’ openers Tamim Iqbal and Liton Kumar Das started well while chasing the challenging target of 193. Comilla needed a great start from their icon player and skipper Tamim as he is in good form in BPL 5. Tamim started confidently and played some beautiful shots during his knock. At one stage, Comilla cruised to 54 for no loss in just 4.4 overs. Then Rangpur captain Mashrafe bin Mortaza took the crucial wicket of counterpart Tamim. It was a good length delivery in the line of off stump by Mashrafe and Tamim tried to slog over the bowler’s head. He only managed a top-edge and mid off fielder Sohag Gazi took a simple catch. So captain removed the captain and it was a crucial breakthrough in the context of the game.
