Bangladesh boys put up a brave display, despite two second-half goals saw them begin their AFC U-16 Championship 2020 qualifying campaign with a 2-0 defeat against host Qatar at the Aspire Dome indoor stadium in Doha Wednesday.
After a goalless opening half where Bangladesh’s Moinul Islam squandered a great chance at the half hour mark in spite of having the goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation, Qatar took the lead in the 55th minute through forward Al-Abdullah and substitute Al-Dosari added another in the 90th.
It was a fast, attacking game with the home side dominating possession but Bangladesh defence managed to hold them at bay till the break.
The boys in red and green also missed a couple of chances while goalkeeper Mehedi Hasan too produced some brilliant saves in both halves.
