Bangladesh A team got a reprieve as they got away from a possible series loss after their fourth and penultimate match of the five-game one-day series against visiting Afghanistan A side was abandoned due to rain Saturday.
In the rain-affected match at BKSP, the host were sent in to bat first.
Initially, the match was reduced to 44 overs per side owing to rain before it was curtailed further to 40 overs during Bangladesh’s batting due to inclement weather.
Bangladesh lost opener Mohammad Naim and one-down Zakir Hasan for a duck and one respectively early in the innings.
But captain Imrul Kayes and Afif Hossain added 67 runs for the fourth wicket to repair the damage.

Kayes got out for 33 before Afif was dismissed for 45 and the remaining batsmen failed to make any great impact that resulted the host being bundled out for 176 in 40 overs.
Afghanistan were given a target of 187 and their openers Ibrahim Zadran (30) and Rahmanullah Gubraz (21) made a flying start before the rain halted their progress.
Afghanistan, who are leading the series 2-1, were 57 without loss in 8.2 overs and looked to be cruising towards the target.
But the rain saved the host and they will try to salvage the series in the last match that is scheduled to take place at the same venue Monday.
