Team BJMC finally registered their first victory in the Bangladesh Premier League this season with a surprising 2-1 win over Lt. Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited Saturday at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.

In the process, BJMC avenged their 2-0 defeat against Sheikh Jamal in the corresponding fixture.

Bottom side BJMC now have eight points from 16 matches in the 13-team standing while Sheikh Jamal are seventh with 18 points.

BJMC took the lead in the 19th minute when Nigerian forward Samson Iliasu volleyed home from an Abdul Hannan cross from the right flank.

Sheikh Jamal could have equalized in the 53rd minute but Gambian forward Ebu Kante missed the target.

BJMC immediately doubled the lead through Nigerian striker Eleta Kingsley who evaded the challenges of two defenders before finding the back of the net.

Sheikh Jamal reduced the arrears five minutes later through a diving header from Shakhawat Hossain Rony but the 2015 league champion weren’t able to bring parity in the face of some dogged BJMC defending.
