Abahani are second in the 13-team points table with 36 points from 15 matches, including 12 wins, while Muktijoddha are eighth with 16 points from the same number of outings, including seven losses

Abahani Limited tasted defeat in their previous Bangladesh Premier League match against table-topper Bashundhara Kings but they bounced back in style Thursday, beating Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra 4-1 in Gopalganj’s Sheikh Fazlul Haque Stadium.

The Sky Blues though went behind in the beginning stages of the game as Ivory Coast’s Ballo Famoussa found the back of the net.

Abahani brought parity in the 27th minute when Haitian Kervens Belfort headed home from a Mamunul Islam free-kick.

The Dhanmondi outfit took the lead just three minutes later through a placing shot from Nabib Newaj Jibon.

Mario Lemos' charges continued the onslaught in the second half and extended their lead in the 64th minute from a shot outside the box by Mamunul.

Nigerian Sunday Chizoba completed the rout 10 minutes later.
