Fans of Chirkutt are in for a treat, as the band is set to release a new single on Eid-ul-Fitr.

Sharmin Sultana Shumi, vocalist of the band, penned the lyrics of the single, which will be released on a digital platform.

However, Chirkutt will not release an album this year, as the band members are busy recording playback songs for films such as “Beauty Circus”, Dahakal”, and “Eti Tomar Dhaka.”

Last year, the band bagged the Channel-i Music Award in the Best Playback Music category for the song “Ahare jiban,” which was recorded for Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s film “Doob.”

On April 16, Chirkutt released the single “Manush” on their official YouTube channel, dedicating the song to Nusrat Jahan Rafi, a madrasa student who was burned to death after complaining of sexual harassment.

Besides the playback songs, Chirkutt also has a few gigs lined-up, including a tour of the US.

Chirkutt’s current line-up consists of Emon Chowdhury on guitar, Pavel Areen on drums, Sharmin Sultana Sumi on vocals, Didar on bass, and Nirab on keyboard.
