Nazrul Sangeet singer and teacher Khalid Hossain has been hospitalized at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICD) in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

On May 4, the singer went to NICD for a regular check-up but the doctors decided to admit him for observation. Khalid Hossain’s son, Asif Hossain, confirmed the news to reporters.

Khalid Hossain has been suffering from complications due to old age—along with heart and lung problems—for quite a long time. He is undergoing treatment at NICD's Coronary Care Unit.

Hossain has been singing Nazrul songs for over six decades. In his long career, Khalid worked as a teacher and examiner of Nazrul Sangeet at various universities and institutes including Dhaka University and National University.

The Ekushey Padak winning singer was born in West Bengal, India in 1945. He is a member of the Nazrul Notation Authentication Board at the Nazrul Institute. Khalid has released many Nazrul Sangeet albums.
