She will be on a four day tour to visit these camps in Cox’s Bazar
Multiple Academy award winning Australian actor and UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, Goodwill Ambassador Cate Blanchett is coming to Bangladesh to visit the Rohingya refugee camps. She will be on a four day tour to visit these camps in Cox’s Bazar.
Previously, other UNHCR ambassadors including “Bond Girl” Michelle Yeoh and famous Japanese rock singer Miyavi visited the Rohingya camps in Cox’s Bazar.
Moreover, Hollywood celebrity and UNHCR Special Envoy Angelina Jolie called out everyone to go and visit the Rohingya camps in Bangladesh back in November 2017. She called out to Nato at their conference at Brussels in February: “I‘m very concerned about the Rohingya, I‘m very angry at the response … I‘m very concerned about the stories of the 10-year old girls being raped.”
“We should all hang our head on how little we have been able to do,” she added.
According to the UNHCR, almost 700,000 Rohingya refugees entered Bangladeshi soil since August 25, 2017. Many sources claim that about three thousand of them were killed at their homeland Myanmar.
