Apu said her divorce has become a national issue and as a maternal figure, PM Hasina is best-equipped to settle this
Last week, Shakib Khan issued a divorce letter to Apu Biswas. They had been married in secret since 2008. Once Apu revealed their marriage and child to the public, the relationship began to sour and the dissent became evident.
The cold demeanour between the spouses gave rise to rumours of a possible split, which finally manifested with the divorce letter.
In an exclusive interview with the Bangla Tribune, Apu Biswas said she wants Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s intervention to save her marriage with Shakib.
Apu said her divorce has become a national issue and as a maternal figure, PM Hasina is best-equipped to settle this.
She denied all the allegations raised by Shakib in the divorce letter.
Apu noted her conversion from Hinduism to Islam for her marriage was not forced, but was a requirement. She also said she would prefer to settle the matter out of court.
