Band Kobiyal has recently released their first ever single titled “Chironjib Sanjeeb” (Immortal Sanjeeb) in memory of late Sanjeeb Chowdhury from the band Dalchhut.
Kobiyal, a band that was formed back in 2008 by four the then university students – Kazi Shams, Humayun Azam Rewaz, Kinkar Ehsan and Fazle Rabbi Khan and later joined by two other members Tanim and Rana.
The band had to go through many ups and down since its inception as some of its members moved overseas for higher studies; but the two founding members Shams and Rewaz were not meant to discontinue the band.
After years of persistent dedication, the band has finally become ready to unveil their debut extended play (EP) titled “Kolorobey Kobiyal” (Kobiyal in Chirps) under the banner of Soundtek.
Asked why the band is releasing their debut album after nine years of its establishment, vocalist and drummer Kazi Shams told the Dhaka Tribune: “Basically, we took the time for our preparation. We had never sought commercial success as our dedication for music has always been guided by our passion. We wanted to deliver something perfect to the audience.”
Rewaz, lyricist and percussionist of the band, when asked why they choose Sanjeeb as the subject of their debut single, said: “Sanjeeb is the source of our inspiration. He had always been a revolutionary voice against all odds and this song is just a small tribute to this legendary artist.”
