'I can only hope and pray that, as human beings we can somehow get over this'
During a recent visit to Turkey to promote his new movie, Secret Superstar, Aamir Khan said he was heartbroken about the Rohingya crisis.
During a press conference on Wednesday, amid questions about his new movie, he was also asked about what he felt about the Rohingya crisis. Anwering the question on the persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, Aamir Khan said: “I think what is happening in Myanmar is very heartbreaking.
“Anywhere in the world when people suffer, anywhere in the world when people go through this kind of tragic experiences it is really heartbreaking and it happens all over the world at different times.”
The 52-year-old Indian superstar concluded saying: “I can only hope and pray that, as human beings we can somehow get over this.”
Since Aug 25, some 507,000 Rohingya refugees have crossed from Myanmar’s western state of Rakhine into Bangladesh, according to the UN.
