Agriculture scientist and Professor of Biotechnology department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University Professor M Tofazzal Islam is set to receive the Bangladesh Academy of Sciences (BAS) Gold Medal & Award.
He has been select for this award in senior category for his outstanding contribution for original research on biological science. A letter signed by Secretary of the academy and former vice-chancellor of Jagannath University Mejbah Uddin Ahmed disclosed the information.
While expressing his reaction, he told the Dhaka Tribune: “This award will increase my enthusiasm and passion manifolds. I want to represent Bangladesh in the world stage as a significant contributor of improving agricultural science.”
He was born in 1966 at Bramhanbaria district. He completed his BSC and MSC on agricultural chemistry from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Later, He took his masters degree from Hekkaido University on Environmental chemistry in 1999 and Ph D on applied biology at 2002 from the same university.
He also received post doctorate from the same university with a fellowship of Japan society for promotion of science.
He joined as a lecturer of agricultural and rural development at Open University. He joined at Bangabandhu agricultural university at 2010 as professor of biotechnology.
