Straight Bat: Sack the bua.. I mean the coach.. don’t fix the problem

In Bangladesh the management is beyond any question

Update : 10 Jul 2019, 11:38 AM

I love sacking, left right and centre. There is no greater way to solve a problem than sacking the guy who is trying to solve them. The coach is like a bua (domestic help).. you sack one and you get another. After some time, when the situation remains the same you sack the bua or the coach.. Of course, coaches are much easier to get than buas so their work life is probably longer than coaches, what doesn’t change is the team.

In Bangladesh the management is beyond any question.. they only hire and fire the coaches. Why they hire and why they fire- is a mystery, but nobody asks how come they are not responsible for their actions in managing the entire cricket scene including hiring. I mean how many times do you ask why you have hired your bua..

Now that the BD team has threatened to become a national embarrassment, will it go to the national parliament committee or whatever? But then again Mashrafe [Mortaza] is an MP so he enjoys parliamentary privileges and thus no committee can be set up to find out why they flunked.

Taking responsibility for a dismal performance is no solution and the captain can only do so much, but the entire team looked sorry and showed no fight.. that is where the problem is. Everyone knows they are tigers, golden boys, they mean well, but they just never managed to do too well.

There must be reasons, so it is best to find out and rectify. Getting elected, endorsing noodles, going for hajj, and the rest are all great and should be encouraged, but dear tigers maybe you could stop calling yourselves tigers when you aren’t roaring..  Could you consider a smaller less ferocious animal to suit your style? Thanks.

Who fixed the NZ- India match? Why?

I mean I have seen all the matches in this World Cup but it was way out the worst and the most boring ever possible.  NZ played like they had an attack of hernia near the breeding organs and arthritis in the rest of their body.  Even Williamson, who generally bats sensibly looked like playing a test.. the game was so bad. I even managed to edit my CV to apply for a job which I was not entitled for and over aged by about 25 years. It seriously did not matter as long as I did not have to watch it while hoping someone would die on the field, and something.. anything would happen.

And then came the rains, and then came the wait, and then came the rains, and then came the wait, and then came the rain again, and then came the postponement, and then came the announcement about the shift tomorrow.

At 211/3, this is Nobel Prize class.  One more match watching like this and I might start worrying about Messi, whoever he/she is..
