Our law enforcement needs to crack down on these shops, and ensure that students’ hard work is not being negated
The fact that one can get a fake certificate from dingy Nilkhet shops is not only troubling, but a sobering reminder of the state our education system is in.
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is the result of countless hours of hard work and, often, a lot of money. If Tk5,000 is all it takes to get a certificate that is almost indistinguishable from the original, what is the point?
This is a scathing indictment of the current education system.
What is worse, this practice has been going on freely and openly.
Our law enforcement needs to crack down on these shops, and ensure that students’ hard work is not being negated by these forgeries.
The authorities need to take a long hard look at the state of education in the country, before the value of a certificate is cheapened any further.
