Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is working to protect the health of pregnant mothers and newborns
A reciprocal meeting between Bangladesh and Iranian Red Crescent Society was held on Thursday, at the Holy Red Crescent Medical College Auditorium.
President of the Iranian Red Crescent Society Dr Pivandi spoke as the chief guest, while the Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Hafiz Ahmed Mazumder conducted the meeting.
Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education of Iran Seyed Mohammad Ayazi participated in the meeting along with the Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Abbas Vaezo, Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) Dr Habibe Millat, MP, Treasurer Advocate Touhidur Rahman and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Head of Delegation Ikhtiyar Aslanov.
Health service activities, including the supply of food and essential items as a part of their humanitarian assistance to the people of Myanmar who have taken shelter in Bangladesh was discussed.
Chairman Hafiz stated that Bangladesh Red Crescent Society is working to protect the health of pregnant mothers and newborns.
“Holy Family Hospital is also contributing medical treatment of the needy through various institutions in different districts.
“BDRCS has continued to donate dry food, rice, pulses, oil, cash, free treatment and safe drinking water in 31 districts affected by floods,” Hafiz said.
He also praised the president of the Iranian Red Crescent for carrying out humanitarian work for the Rohingyas in Cox’s Bazar.
